Again some Mash Up art – we just love showing you artist with magnificent ideas. We know that there is a lot of bizarre mash ups out there and a lot of it sucks – but this Mario Bros X-Men mash up doesn’t suck at all. Artist Casey Edwards (aka BasicNoir on DeviantArt) has placed immortal plumber Mario and his friends and enemies into the very cool world of the X-Men. Thanks to his incredible idea, we got something we have not seen before! This is also an excellent idea for the authors of video games – I think this would be a hit among casual gamers, and the only thing I think has more potential of this is amazing Disney+Star Wars Mash Up art.

De Rover fort was built in 17th century in Halestern in province of Nurt Barabant in Netherlands. For a long time it was neglected, and slowly it fell into ruins. But, local authorities decided to renew it and turn it into attraction. Invested money revitalized the fort but it also brought something new, still unseen in the world. When the work on fort began, question about way to the fort emerged. There were few questions, among which the most important was the natural preservation. On the competition made by local authorities, best idea was that of a Netherlands-Belgium architectural bureau “RO&AD” deliberately called after Moses who, according to Bible, helped his people when he separated Red sea, making a way for them to run. Narrow but long tunnel, “Moses bridge” looks like a road through water, because it was built inside the mote that stretches around the fort. As you see, water surface is near the upper side of the bridge so people that use this bridge have comforting sensation of water vicinity. Bridge was made out of special wood Accoya, that was treated to be water resistant. I think that architectural enterprise of “RO&AD” was a complete success – unusual bridge, eco friendly and with water within the reach of your arm.

Everything that is dangerous and breathtaking always attracted people’s attention. I don’t know who exactly was the one who first tried to put his/her own head in mouth of some wild and dangerous animal, but I see he/she has many followers today. I can’t imagine the amount of trust, and training above all, is needed to do such a thing, especially knowing that if something goes wrong you’re dead, for sure! I would think more than twice before even deciding to try such a thing. But what can I say more for the people doing it except for – great work and good luck.

It is amazing how some people and nations are able to rise up from the ashes and build an empire from it, in nearly impossible period of time. Some nations need centuries, some never rise, but you can’t say that applies to Japanese. After the atomic bomb crashing their land and destroying everything to the ground, and radiation it carried with itself, they stood up on their feet and build it all up again. That is worth admiring. Remember those earthquakes and tsunamis they had? Well, now the land looks like it never happened… Really amazing people.

My usual breakfast menu – sandwiches and yogurt, and I always have been experimenting and trying to draw or write something with ketchup, but it was far from anything you could call art. Now that I’ve seen these sandwiches, first thing tomorrow morning I’ll try to make one of these on my own, it can’t be too hard when someone already did it. The beginning of Wieliczka salt mine, one of the world’s most famous mines, dates back to middle Ages. The oldest confirmation of this place at survived til nowadays is the privilege of King Kazimierz Odnowiciel, from 1044, where the city is first named Wieliczka in ‘magnum sal alias Wieliczka’. It is a small underground city with many statues, chapels, richly decorated halls that were created during centuries by miners that worked here with their original tools and equipment. There is no object we use in life someone already hasn’t make some art of it. Toothpicks – yeah, there are castles made of them, rubbers – of course, lot of sculptures already made, glass – been there, done it… Do I need to count more? The thing is that the line between weirdness and ingeniousness is very thin and you can always ‘go’ from one definition to another in whatever you make. Anyway, for those who watched it, remember how Willy Wonka (Johnny Depp) told the kids how he was asked to make a palace out of the chocolate, and he did, but when the Sun shined so bright the palace collapsed. Well, it seems that some people are misinformed about trusting the things actors say and do in the movies. When someone mentions word toothpick to me, first thought I visualize is a huge meal in front of me after which I will need to pick my teeth while drinking some juice. But that is just me, for these guys word “toothpick” means hours and hours of eyestrain and precision work. I treat toothpick like piece of wood that I use and dispose, but this guys are treating it like material of which anything can be created. For some of those creations it took 35 years to be completed, and over 30k toothpicks. We can do nothing but admire the artist that was ready to spend that kind of time on a piece of art made of toothpicks.

I accidentally stumbled on the pictures of Giant Weta and I was shocked! Then I’ve searched for more information of giant insects – double shock! I didn’t even know that such things exist, the biggest bug that I saw was some kind of stag beetle (I’m not sure that’s true name). I know that some of these pictures do not show the insects, but people generally use the noun ‘bugs‘ for all insects, arachnids, crustaceans, etc… I sincerely hope that I will never have a chance to see something like this near my house, or that some of these bugs run over me while I sleep. I’ve heard of him for a first time as the author of The Used‘s album artwork, and In Flames‘s album cover, A Sense of Purpose, and its first single, “The Mirror’s Truth“. After that I’ve search for him and his bio, works, etc… He’s a member of the groups Cardboard City and Zerofriends. He’s also the author of many comic books, calendars, music videos… Regardless of all, these strange and twisted superheroes are my top favorites of all of his works!

Cats Takes Cribs

Cats love warm and cozy beds. They love to sleep on a blanket and prefer to sleep next to someone because of the additional heat. So in fact what you see here is not so strange – it comes to normal. Babies are always kept warm and no wonder that these cats have decided to just sleep in the cradles. A little babies still smell like milk and for kittens this came as a paradise; I believe these cats simply get stunned while lying in the cradles.

Geisha is a Japanese artist, dancer and singer in the tea rooms, specially educated, dressed with taste, in traditional kimonos, entertains visitors in a every decent way. There’s even special schools with special education for them. As students they used to live in special houses, called Okiyas. Geishas bring money only to Okiya since it’s their living place where they are also studying and Okiya invest in them. Sexual services are offered only once to one man, their master. When master pay for a geisha she has a lifelong commitment to serve him. Geisha was able to enter in this agreement only if she was a virgin. If it happened that she is caught with another man, she would be thrown out from Okiya house and these girls would usually end up as prostitutes.

Prostitution is legal in the Netherlands since back in the 1815th. In 1996. it began to be taxed. According to statistics, Netherlands has more than 25,000 prostitutes while the half of this number is considered to be illegal immigrants. The largest legal brothel in Europe is in Cologne, Germany, with a capacity of 120 rooms and as many girls. This brothel is visited by over 1000 people per day. In this twelve-floor brothel called Pascha, the girls charge 160-180 euros per day. Also, they determine the hours and cost of services by themselves. In Netherlands, public houses have been allowed since October 2000, and prostitutes have rights like all other employees. Owners of brothels must have a clean judicial record. In Germany “Erotic centers” have been allowed since 2001 , in clearly defined districts. Prostitutes and the employer sign a contract. Brothels and “p0*n shops” in Switzerland were legalized in the 1992 , and prostitutes have the same rights as employees.

Snow time! When I remember how much I loved snow when I was younger – man, my brother and I have spent hours and hours out there regardless of the cold. Sledding, attempts at skiing, throwing snowballs, making igloos and of course, the snowman! We always had a silly ideas for a Snowman, on where we are going to make it to how it will look! But these – beyond all our funny and silly attempts, crossing the line of sickness, these are really, really weird Snowmen!!

You can assume it’s unusual lodger of those woods. We are, of course talking about a flying squirrel, Glaucomys Sciuridae, mammal, rodent from sciuridae family. His fur is gray and brown on his back, almost white and really smooth on his belly. He can glide the air between the trees thanks to membranes that stretch from his cheeks to ornate tail. Although, he is almost invisible in day light, hiding in the treetops of deciduous and mixed forests. The animal was discovered 1758. Carl von Linne was the founder of this amazing creatures.

Mysterious Stonehenge

Stonehenge is surely Britain’s national icon, symbolizing the mystique, power and endurance. Its primary purpose has remained unknown until now. However, it is likely that this was the church built as a symbol of worship of ancient gods. There are other versions of the meaning of this object, for example, that it was the observatory, which was followed by time and calendars, or that this was the place where the victims were sacrificed in the name of goods. The very use of this forgotten ancient wonder of the world is not as interesting as it is interesting way of its construction. What we can see today are only ruins of Stonehenge. Smaller and larger parts are removed for road construction, family houses. Also the visitors who could come very close to it since 1978 were taking small rocks as souvenirs.

Building of Stonehenge was very slow process, its construction began around 4000 years ago and it was completed around 3500 years ago. During that time, this was a huge project in which thousands of workers were involved, it was necessary to make special tools, unknown at that time and this project asked a lot of time and money. The inner circle of Stonehenge is made of so-called “blue stones” that have been passed down from the mountains of Wales, which are located more than 300 kilometers away. At that time, transportation of the stones was very difficult. Stones had to be transported over very inhospitable terrain across two rivers and to be set in Stonehenge. Each stone weighed about 4 tons, and there were about eighty in an inner circle.

This section is now almost completely destroyed, although it still considers that the construction of this part has not been fully completed. The outer circle is made of stones that have been passed down from the mountains about 30 kilometers away. These stones are even higher than the previously mentioned, they weigh over 50 tons and its transport was even greater problem than transport of the “blue stones”. It is believed that in some inaccessible areas needed more than 600 people to move one stone over the obstacle. When stone reached the spot it was necessary to utilize high leverage and strong ropes in order to set the stones in an upright position. Who built Stonehenge? This is a question that even today no one has a conclusive answer.

There are various theories and opinions, but each of them is missing a detail, which makes it remain just a hypothesis. According to legend, Stonehenge was built of stones from Africa, taken by the Giants, which was set in circles by the wizard Merlin, who used its magic to do so. Today it is relatively easy to reach Stonehenge, because in less than a kilometer from the highway. Today Stonehenge is Britain tourist attraction, the challenge for many historians and archaeologists, but also a meeting place of many religious sects that believe that today there is a spiritual power in this object.
