scarification’s and tattoos are not the same thing at all,
tattoos are made with needles and ink while scarifications are made
with knives and literally carved into your skin.
Personally I think scarification’s should be like banned or something,
its just nasty looking and totally destructive to your body. Tattoos can be removed, scarification’s are permanent.

Why? There’s no reason to ban it just because you don’t like it.

I wouldn’t want a scarification done to me, but to the people that want it, best of luck. After all, it’s their body.

is ones choice to get it done no reason as to why it shouldn’t be frowned upon, sure if its the swastika scared in but if you don’t like it look the other way simple, you might not be pretty so you could offend some one works both ways depends how you perceive beauty and art

These are not tattoos. This is called scarification and, when done well, it is an amazing form of body mod. These are the immediate bloody photos but after they have fully healed a couple of years later they are more subtle and organic looking than black ink tats. A completely different art form executed by a different style of artist.

i like the end result but i dont have the stomache see my skin mutilated in that fashion for art. perhaps a small one would work but that guy that had his whole upper bakck done with the woman in the garden…. wow thats gota hurt (shudders)

This is not painful. Part of the whole procedure is having the subject take a heavy does of pain killers, some use narcotics. And the pain killer is prescribed round the clock until the scar heals in several days.
The original idea of this art goes back to the creators of Zorro.

yeaaah, i sooo almost puked seeing this… and i dont have a weak stomache. I’ve seen this kind of art done before and its not all that new like some think. Infact it ancient, just kinda new to america lol. This stuff dates back even before ink tatoos. When done correctly the end result (after it fully heals) can actually look nice. Personaly i would stick with ink and not random fads like nintendo controllers or transformers and whatnot lol. IMO if your gonna get something like this done, make it something worth while… not a random hello kitty or sith on your leg lol.

Those aren’t tattoos, its called SCARIFICATION and it is more painful than a tattoo.

scarification looks pretty cool but there are 2 important details

1, get a professional to do it. Not just anyone can do it. There are some rather important arteries quite close to the skin in places you wouldn’t expect like the hands, feet, knee and elbow joints, abdomen, ears, nose, upper and lower jaw, shoulders, hips, lower back and scalp.

2, you must and absolutely must keep the open wound clean at all times until it finishes scaring. Even the smallest amount of sweat can lead to medical infection and/or gangrene.

I think scarifications can be so beautiful, this article has really not shown them at their best stage. I have several scarifications planned and am just trying to find the right artist to perform them.
