Strawberry Shake Colored Lake

Nature | June 22, 2012 / views: 133,451

Did any of you guys see the strawberry shake colored lake? Well, I bet you didn't... Am I right? Oh, yeah, I know, now you think I'm talking nonsense. But, you are wrong! There is such a thing on this Earth, and just for your information it is located in Senegal, Africa and it is called Retba. We can thank for the color to a rare sort of algae - Dunaliella salina that basically makes this lake pink. And another thing is that has a great percent of the salt, like the Dead sea, so people can't drawn so easily. Those two things - salt (that is not usual for a lake) and the strawberry shake (...yummy...) make it a completely strange but unique lake, one of a kind in our world.
